We grow the majority of our trees without stakes so they can stand on their own. The roots are protected from the heat in the summer and cold damage in the winter. Our trees bend (like a fishing pole). We leave lower branches on as long as possible to feed trunk growth. Also, the trees flex in the wind since there aren’t stakes to hinder their movement.
